I Did It!!

alright well for all of you who read this blog on a regular basis you may remeber that in my first post i said that if i had sparkely duct tape it would be the best thing ever!!! well i thought to myself ...Hey! why not just make it your self! so i got out some glitter and clear paint and painted up some solid color bows i randomly had lying around... :) you may be thinking..."what this girl is crazy enough to paint duct tape?? the answer is...yes...yes i am...;) haha anyways it turned out way cooler than i expected! :D hahah hope you enjoy :)

so here are all three bows i made :) i tried out differentcolors of glitter and i just can't pick which one is my favorite :)

pink glitter.....

some white glitter.....

or mabey some purple and blue glitter?? i just can't decide :) haha ps sorry the bows a little messed up here but you get the idea :)

and remeber of cource that these little bows can do so many things! I mean bow earings, headbands, hairclips, shoeclips (might be making some of those later FYI) and so much more! :)

Alright...here we go ....the chic-est thing ever in duct tape!! check out this necklace i made! It was a little difficult but totally worth it!! and it looks like it would have cost a ton of money! AAHHHH im so excited about this necklace :D well you probly want to see it huh? :) haha here it is :)

Okay so this is a 100% duct tape necklace and it looks pretty fabulous to me! hahah

so heres a close up on the rose part which was probly the most time consuming part of the project :)

and heres a close up on the individual "stands" of duct tape which yes did take a while to fold

and finally me wearing the necklace :) ooohhhhh how i love it! comment comment!

duct tape roses :)

hey you guys!!!! so here is the first DIY on Duct Tape Chic!!! Alrighty well today im gonna show you how to make a duct tape rose :)

Okay so I'm gonna use the splatter paint duct tape for the rose ...mainly because I have more of that color then anything eles hahah :)

1.) so first you need to rip/cut i peice of duct tape between 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 inch long peice of duct tape.

2.) Next you're going to fold your peice of duct tape about 3/4 over ...just enough so that you still have enough of the sticky side showing so that you can re-stick it to itseslf later :)

3.) okay- dokey (sorry for the bad pic) but now what your going to do is start at where the duct tape is folded over and using your sissors round off the folded over part of your duct tape strip.

4.) Now start by folding thte tip of the sticky part over. Next start rolling into a spiral

5.) keep rolling the duct tape around....i find that works best by pinching a little bit of the sticky part together then rolling it...this way the rose will flare out more.

so here's what your rose will look like after you have one strip rolled.

6.) alright now repeat steps 1-3

7.) Alright now take the strip you just cut and add it to you rose...i recomend adding it to the middle of the last strip you made.

8.) keep adding strips of duct tape until your rose is the desired with :)

Tips and Tricks

Okay so here are some tips/ tricks I've picked up from all my duct taping :)

~ so first i would recomend that you buy/find a special pair of sissors that you use only for cutting duct tape....they tend to get kinda gunked up so its beter to just use one pair.

~ripping the duct tape off the roll will keep you having straight 'cutlines' however if you are cuttinbg thin pieces i would recomend just using sissors.

~when your folding tape  it works best (at least for me) if you start by folding then end in half then pull the other end tight so that that it bendsin the middle...then fold it in half.

~also useing certain colors work better then others. Some colors will show the sitcky sideof the tape more then others. ik i already said this hahha but colors like silver will show less then colors like black. (at least  in my personal expierence)

okay well theres just a few for you there...:) ill make sure to add more tips as i think of some :)

Duct Tape Bows

Okay here we go:) the first Duct Tape post on Duct Tape Chic!! alrighty so here are some duct tape bows that i made when i was bored :) something you should know about me is that i lloovve to make jewlry :) especially when it looks classy ...not like a fruitloop necklace or something (theres ur first taste of my odd thought process ;) ) Anyways! the pictures are pretty bad on here but ill post a new post with a how too and some better pics later :)

Okay so like i said AWFUL pics .....but anyways heres the first Duct Tape Bow Earings I made :) These are made with the Lepord duct tape which to be honesst i wasn't to excited about getting at first...but i must addmit after making these little bows with it I have fallen in love :)

and here would be them in Zebra Duck Tape...which I must say i dont like as much....mainly cuz its a little harder to tell that its Zebra.....I also made some  larger bos in Pink Zebra which I like alot too but i didnt mkae any earing with that duct tape.

and here is the silver.....this is by far the worst picture and im embaressed to be posting it....hahah but i wanted to show you how shiny the silver is since i talked about it in my last post. :) The silver is really nice because its alot harder to tell if a little bit of the sticky side is showing....which tends too happen alot if your not a perfect tape folder :) (which i by no means am) Also liek i mentioned it's really shiny and every thing I make looks like its made out of a shiny metal....i wore these earing to school the other day and my friends were shocked when i told them this was duct tape! :)

The last I should mention is that all the duct tape I will be using will be Duck Brand duct tape...unless otherwise mention it.....Here's a link to their website in case you need to find a certain pattern or color of duct tape :) http://duckbrand.com/ :) feel free tp request me to make stuff out of certain patterns too :) of cource if i can find that pattern or color is another story but hey it never hurts to try :)

Duct Tape Chic

Hey so I'm Kallie :) hahah um lets see well this blog is odviously about my duct tape craze!! haha to tell you a little about me I have a rediculous sence of humor (as you will notice if you read this blog very long) as stated in my "about me" section I love DIY. which is great news for you because ill be posting lost! I odviously lovvveeee duct tape and anything made out of it...hence the blog :) I've got a thing for jell-o and anything SPARKLEY! So if they made sparkeling duct tape i would be in love! actually they do make a silver metalic kinda shiny duct tape that im in love with currently! :) so yeah. well that kinda sums up me for now...this blog will be primaraly about duct tape, stuff you can make with it, and what not. but im sure other crafing things as well as just random stuff i love will show up too. :) so there you have it!
